Wow, it's Saturday again?! This week flew by. I'm not exactly sure what to extend on, so here is just a little highlight reel of some fun times this week:
ย -Monday and Tuesday we taught English at a local orphanage, Sisters of Charity. The engligh class is going well and we are always amused to hear our students attempt to pronounce english words. My favorite word they mispronounce is "monday," it generally comes across like "Moon-dey." But they are learning and coming right along.
-Wednesday, again we picked up trash on a particular street. About ten kids join us everyweek to help clean the road. The clean up yields great conversations. Dispite the hot afternoon sun and stinky litter, I do enjoy our Wednesday trash pick up and enjoy the relationships being built through that.
-Wednesday night during out "team time" we put aside our normal discussion time and decided to do some worship instead. We prayed for the Holy Spirit to meet us during the time of worship, and He sure did. 3 songs into our worship time, we were all stunned to hear the pounding rain outside. Without hesitation, we looked at the pouring rain, took off our shoes (and for the boys, their shirts) and we ran around in the rain. We sang praise songs and just danced around like fools for Jesus in the rain. If it wasn't defined before, we are definitely the crazy gringos on our block.
-After a tiring soccer practice on Friday, (we played a full field scrimmage with only 5 people per team.. aka, alot of running) we had some extra time before lunch. With thoughts of home, the beautiful changing of seasons and delicious food that goes along with fall, my friend Caleb and I made apple crisp for the team. It was a good diversion from our normal cold cut sandwiches and chips, and the baked apple fragrance filled our house for a bit too. Everyone enjoyed it and it was my and Caleb's pleasure to serve our team in that way.
-Friday night was movie night again for the neighborhood kids. How much I really wanted to watch Shrek 2 in spanish, I ended up playing an hour long series of games with the younger kids. We played all sorts of crazy games I have never seen before. We had such a fun time and I look foreward to building a relationship with our adorable little neighbors.
-This morning, Saturday, we had our first real soccer game since last week was a forefit. I'd say our team dominated the game. We didn't put as many shots on goal as we should have, resulting in a 0-0 tie. We'll work on shooting more this week I guess.
Overall God is continuing to bless my time here in Granada. This week especially I felt alot of growth with Him through my quite times and during our teaching times in the mornings. I'm being stretched and pulled in a way that is helping me grow in Faith. Thank you for your prayers.
