After a enjoyable and restful Christmas break, I am safely back in Granada. It was refreshing to eat home-style cooking, to visit with friends and family, and to not be sweating though out the day, but I am overjoyed to be back.
The past few days have been spent getting situated at our new house and getting reacquainted with friends in Granada and friends on the team. Our house is at the AIM base, El Puente. I still share a room with 2 awesome girls but have the luxury of my own bed. At El Puente there is an acre of land from which we are clearing out sticks, rocks, trash and unusable fruit so the land will be more usable. Our hope is to be able to run around the yard barefoot someday without stepping on used needles (we found five!) Its a work in progress but so far I am pleased with our new house and I love that
it is located right next to the soccer field.
That is what is going on here on the surface. We will begin our individual ministries this coming week, and what particular ministry that will be is still a mystery to me. This semester I have the freedom to plug-in to whichever ministry I feel called to. Right now I am praying for God's guidance to assure me of where He wants to use me in Granada. God answers prayer, I am more sure of this now than ever. For the past two nights I have spent hours in prayer with a small number of the members on my team. He has spoken words of comfort to the minds of my teammates and shown us His healing power. He longs for intimacy with us and for oppertunities to show us His great power. With that in mind I would encourage you to spend some sincere time in prayer to God. Tell Him how awesome He is, or maybe repent for the sins you are holding on to. Pray for all the things in life you are uncertain of, HE WILL show you the way. Christ longs to be our best friend and is definitely our most Faithful companion. Let Him show you His might though prayer. And if you could pray for guidance for me in this coming semester, I have every confidence that God will show His plan to me in a radical way.
"Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises.
Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to
come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will
heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have
committed any sins, you will be forgiven.
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may
be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and
produces wonderful results. " -James 5:13-16
